Spring?

So, Monday was Groundhog Day, and apparently the little guy saw his shadow. Here in Portland, Chriki the hedgehog at the Zoo also saw her shadow. 6 more weeks of winter, right? (Never mind that February 2 is exactly midway between the winter solstice and the spring equinox, which is, hey, 6 weeks away. So we have 6 more weeks before spring officially starts no matter what.) Why then the springlike feel in the air ever since? It's been sunny and warm (well, in the 50s). I'm not complaining, but I do find it an amusing coincidence. :)
