The Venetian

After a very rough February 6 (David work work work, me smashing my finger with the washing machine lid -- the nail still has a big black spot!), we managed to get ourselves to the airport to fly to Las Vegas.

We arrived around 10pm on Friday night, and of course the strip was hopping. You lose your sense of time in Las Vegas, what with everything being open all the time, and the lighting in the casinos remaining consistent.

The lobby area of the Venetian.

I enjoy Vegas for a few days. Then the over-the-top opulence starts to wear on me. Now, at the beginning of our stay, it's all fun. :)

The front desk. They were all decked out for Chinese New Year. That's the biggest vase I've ever seen.

The hallway toward the casino.

We went to our room on the 9th floor and started poking around, only to find ash trays and a lingering smoky smell. So we called down for a room change (they had told us we were getting a non-smoking room). We walked back down the long hallway, past the noisy room (are smoking floors more likely to be party floors?), down the elevator to the lobby, to a different set of elevators.

The elevators to the top floors. Our new room was on floor 32!

I'm standing about 2/5 into the room. Behind me is a hallway with the huge bathroom leading off of it. Immediately before me and to the left is the bed. Ahead, down a couple steps, is the lounge area, with a full-sized L-shaped couch, coffee table, round table with chairs, and desk. The desk came in handy, because David unfortunately had to finish up some work when we settled in.

David discovering the remote for the automated curtains.

The blinds going up.

Our view of the strip. We could see Caesar's Palace and the Mirage, among other things.

I'm still awake!

Our midnight dinner, awaiting David's completion of his work. Quesadilla with guacamole, etc. For dessert, cheesecake for me and cookies for David. Everything was very yummy.
